PM Al-Sudani Welcomes Serbian Ambassador Branislav Žeželj

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani today welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Iraq, His Excellency Branislav Žeželj, at his official office in Baghdad.

At the outset of the meeting, Ambassador Žeželj conveyed an official invitation from the President of Serbia for Prime Minister Al-Sudani to visit Belgrade. Additionally, Iraq was formally invited to participate in Expo 2027, which will be hosted by Serbia.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and Serbia, with both sides emphasising the importance of strengthening cooperation across various sectors in order to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly nations.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s openness to expanding its ties with Serbia, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation and investment. He extended an invitation to Serbian companies to explore investment opportunities in Iraq, especially in infrastructure projects, which have been announced by the relevant Iraqi authorities.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need to enhance coordination between the investment authorities of both countries and proposed the establishment of an Iraqi-Serbian Business Council, which would serve as a platform for greater cooperation between the private sectors of both nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their mutual commitment to strengthening the historic friendship between Iraq and Serbia, and to advancing their shared economic and development goals.
