Sinjar District Road Rehabilitation Project Completed

The Ministry of Planning has announced the full completion of the internal road paving and rehabilitation project in the Sinjar District Centre, west of Nineveh Governorate. The project, now 100% finalised, is set to benefit an estimated population of 30,000 by improving mobility, infrastructure, and commercial activity in the area.

A specialised field follow-up team from the Ministry conducted an on-site inspection on Tuesday to evaluate the project’s implementation. The comprehensive works included the construction of new internal roads, the concrete paving of key branches stretching 500 metres, and the resurfacing of the main streets in the district centre with asphalt layers 6 centimetres thick. Additionally, stone paving and retaining wall works were carried out along the prominent Silo Street.

The project is designed to enhance infrastructure quality, stimulate local trade, and reduce vehicle emissions by improving road flow and efficiency. Better road conditions will facilitate access to markets, schools, and healthcare services, while also encouraging commercial activity and investment. The upgraded roads are expected to play a vital role in reinvigorating daily life and economic development in Sinjar.
