Spain and Iraq Forge Humanitarian Ties at Gaza Conference

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on the sidelines of the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza Conference. The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Sanchez’s invitation to visit Spain later this year, acknowledging that Sanchez’s previous visit to Baghdad was instrumental in strengthening ties between the two nations. Al-Sudani emphasised his directives to Iraqi ministries to engage reputable Spanish companies in Iraq’s development and construction projects, underlining the potential for increased collaboration and mutual benefits.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani conveyed Iraq’s gratitude to Spain for its historic recognition of the State of Palestine. He highlighted that this stance aligns with the Palestinian people’s aspirations for freedom and the establishment of an independent state, reflecting Iraq’s solidarity with their cause.

The meeting concluded with both leaders expressing optimism about the future of Spain-Iraq relations, envisioning further collaboration and strengthened partnerships in various fields.
