A meeting was held by the Deputy Minister for Gas Affairs, Mr. Ezzat Saber, to discuss strategies for enhancing Iraq’s gas production capacity and reducing gas flaring. Mr. Saber highlighted the importance of increasing the utilisation rate of flared gas to over 60% of the total amount currently being burned.
He commended the efforts of the North Gas Company and its partner companies for successfully raising the volume of gas extracted from the North Oil Company fields, which has subsequently boosted the generating capacity of three power plants in Kirkuk and Nineveh.
The meeting also provided an overview and evaluation of the projects underway as part of the ministry’s programs and plans, along with the progress achieved. Additionally, discussions covered production rates of dry and liquid gas, storage facilities, the pipeline network, vehicle gas systems, and other agenda items.
