The Larsa Institute in Baghdad is offering art classes for people of all ages and background. They are taught to draw sketches and paint with oil paints on canvas. This is allowing many Iraqi kids and adults to express themselves through creativity. It is also improving their confidence as they are given the opportunity to exhibit their work.
Many of them are developing their skills in portrait pieces and abstract drawings. Other than the artistic skills they can gain, there is a big emotional support in creativity. Especially, for those who cannot speak or for very young children who are learning to express themselves. In that case, they use drawing to communicate their feelings.
The institute gives courses depending on the age and level of skills. The students are supported by specialised teachers with years of experience.
