UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani have strengthened bilateral relations, focusing on economic growth and cooperation.
“Today marks a new era in UK-Iraq cooperation, delivering mutual benefits across trade and defence as we work together for regional stability,” said PM Starmer.
Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, highlighted the £12.3 billion export package, supported by UK Export Finance, offering greater certainty for UK and Iraqi businesses and driving economic growth.
The package will create valuable opportunities for UK businesses while reinforcing trade relations. Discussions also centred on further collaboration on border security and law enforcement to improve regional stability.
This partnership builds on previous efforts to foster a thriving and secure relationship, benefiting both nations economically.
