University of Baghdad Enhances Support for Census Project

Dr. Ali Al-Mubarqa, Advisor to the Ministry of Planning, recently visited the University of Baghdad to underscore the role of state institutions in supporting the General Population and Housing Census Project, scheduled for 20th November.

During his meeting with Dr. Baha Ibrahim, President of the University of Baghdad, and the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, the two discussed the ongoing preparations for the census and the university’s pivotal role in ensuring the project’s success.

Dr. Al-Mubarqa conveyed a message from Dr. Mohammed Ali Tamim, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, emphasising the need for Iraqi universities to prioritise the census project. He highlighted that the census is critical for formulating comprehensive national development plans and is a top priority for the current government. The results will not only serve national planning but will also provide valuable data for researchers and students.

The advisor noted the University of Baghdad’s potential contributions, particularly through its Population Studies Centre, which is among the leading research institutions in this field. He called for increased engagement among university students and faculty in promoting the census and its significance.

In response, Dr. Ibrahim assured that the university is ready to support the census project through various initiatives, including educational workshops and seminars to raise awareness about its importance and developmental objectives.
