A bazaar entitled “Wave of Peace… Towards Peaceful Coexistence” was recently held in Mosul, Iraq, attended by the Minister of Migration and Displaced Persons, Ms. Ivan Faik Jabro. This event aims to support women returning to their original areas after periods of displacement due to conflict.
Organised in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the community organisation “Let’s Make it Beautiful,” the bazaar showcased a variety of products crafted by returning women, many of whom are now the primary earners for their families. This initiative highlights the skills and craftsmanship that these women have developed, enabling them to establish sustainable sources of income and live with dignity, free from reliance on external aid.
The bazaar serves as both an economic empowerment platform and a means to foster peaceful coexistence within the community. By facilitating the reintegration of displaced families, this event represents a significant step towards rebuilding social cohesion in Mosul. Through such initiatives, the local community is encouraged to support one another, ultimately contributing to a more stable and harmonious environment. Efforts like these are crucial for promoting resilience and hope in post-conflict Iraq.
