The Ministry of Planning convened a meeting on Monday with the Iraq Reform, Recovery, and Reconstruction Fund team from the World Bank to discuss the proposed advisory services project document. The aim was to support the implementation of selected reform strategies, with the meeting attended by key officials such as Dr. Maher Hammad Johan and Dr. Hana Ismail Al-Asadi, Undersecretaries from the Ministry of Planning.
The meeting focused on the document outlining a $3.6 million initiative funded by the Iraq Reform, Recovery, and Reconstruction Fund. The project is designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in public service delivery through policy advice and support in key reform areas. These include e-government development, public resource management, and providing flexible support for emerging government reform priorities.
The proposed project involves three major pillars:
1. E-Government Development: Establishing the infrastructure needed to deliver reliable and effective digital public services.
2. Public Resource Management: Improving the general budget preparation, public procurement, local revenue management, and enhancing state-owned enterprises’ practices.
3. Timely Reform Support: Offering flexibility to meet emerging government reform needs.
This initiative aims to increase the efficiency and transparency of government operations, contributing to the country’s broader development goals. The meeting also identified government agencies responsible for coordination, including representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance, and other relevant bodies.
